Политическая партия, объединившая разнородные силы (в том числе мелких фермеров и городских рабочих) в период подъема рабочего и демократического движения 1914-18. Создана в ноябре 1919 в г. Чикаго как Национальная рабочая партия [National Labor Party], выступила с программой "Четырнадцать пунктов требований трудящихся" ["Labor's Fourteen Points"]; новое название получила в 1920. На выборах 1920 собрала около 250 тыс. голосов, поскольку играла существенную роль в политической жизни штатов Вашингтон, Южная Дакота и Монтана. На Чикагском конвенте 1923 представители Рабочей партии Америки [ Worker's Party of America] вытеснили старое руководство партии и получили контроль над ней.
